In church today, I heard this:
"The Lord doesn't adopt you,
and then look for the first opportunity to get rid of you."
"For you did not receive a spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption
by Whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.'
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God."
Calling Him Abba -- Daddy -- Papa -- is a direct contrast to adoption.
"We are adopted into intimacy, into family love."
Adopted into love.
It is the work of the Spirit to remind you that you are God's child.
